Things like, Do we choose our parents and the people who raise us up with different ethics and morals? Do we choose to be born in poverty or not? Do we choose where we are born and what resources are available to us? Do we choose our community and the people around us who influence us like teachers? Do we choose our race, gender, or characteristics?
Even our genes are given to us without choice. Genes that affect everything about us, personality, physical attributes, everything. The genetic blueprint of our brain has at least some affect on a predetermined future right? These questions have nothing to do with religion or whether someone believes in fate or not, they are true, real questions.
jokingly enough I feel that this kind of relates to the movie: The matrix, based on the fact that when Neo meets with the architect, the architect flat out says that everything is pre-determined and no matter the "choice" that Neo makes, it doesn't mean anything due to the multiple realities shown to Neo showing every outcome of his supposed decisions. I have no idea if fate exists but I like to believe that I have at least some say in how my life turns out.
ReplyDeleteI think that nothing is fated and everything is a random or spontaneous course of actions, I mean if you want to say fate is say, one variable changes in the present and that eliminates a number of paths your life could take, you could say it exists. But that's not necessarily "fate".
